The use of field-theoretic techniques and methods has witnessed an impressive growth in recent years. A wealth of new and important results have emerged in condensed-matter physics, mainly in connection with low-dimensional systems such as quantum Hall systems, quantum wires and quantum dots and spin chains and/or ladders. Formation of low-dimensional magnetic systems due to orbital ordering 12 dimensional system like KCuF 3 or Tl 2Ru 2O 7 starts to be-have like one-dimensional magnets. This e ect together book[1]. For other aspects of the orbital physics we may recommend reviews [10, 11]. 2. BASIC CONCEPTS OF DESCRIBING.

Physica E (Low-dimensional systems and nanostructures) contains papers and invited review articles on the fundamental and applied aspects of physics in low-dimensional electron systems, in semiconductor heterostructures, oxide interfaces, quantum wells and superlattices, quantum wires and dots and emerging phenomena such as two-dimensional, majorana fermion and topological low-dimensional systems. This chapter will present fundamental concepts of magnetism, including its manifestation in low-dimensional systems. It will also present the properties of the magnetic nanostructures formed by iron oxide-based colloids and the most applied chemical synthesis methods for the production of these NPs as well as for surface functionalization and.

Low dimensional magnetism, experiments – Olivier Fruchart 5 Superparamagnetism Theoretical description When thermal energy becomes comparable to the anisotropy energy preventing magnetization reversal, the mean magnetization vector of a system fluctuates randomly in space over time, its time-average being zero. Research in theoretical physics is devoted to several problems in statistical physics and theory of condensed matter, for instance, phase transitions and critical behavior, development of analytical and numerical methods to study magnetic properties and elastic properties of crystalline and disordered materials, magnetic properties of low-dimensional structures and molecular magnetic .

As such an intermediate state, some properties of low-dimensional systems are very different to those of their molecular and bulk counterparts.

These properties generally include optical, electronic, and magnetic properties, and all these are partially covered in this book.

This enables us to obtain low-dimensional magnetic materials, although the crystals in which the magnetic atoms sit have a three-dimensional (3D) structure.

One-dimensional (ID) magnetic systems have attracted considerable theoretical attention since the pioneering work by Cited by: 3. Magnetism of Low‐dimensional Systems: Theory. The article discusses the ground-state properties of low-dimensional magnets from the viewpoint of the electronic structure theory.

The results presented arose from first-principles calculations based on the material-specific density-functional theory. This book surveys recent experimental and theoretical studies on optical properties of low-dimensional materials, e.g., artificial crystals in zeolites, C 60 and its related compounds, silicon nanostructures including porous Si, II-VI and III-V semiconductor quantum structures, and Pb-based natural quantum-well systems.

p expertise is in the quantum theory of condensed-matter systems and, in particular, in the dynamical properties of the excitations, such as vibrational waves (or phonons) and magnetic excitations (spin waves or magnons), in these materials. Areas of focus in his recent work have included low-dimensional structures and nanostructured materials.

In this paper we shall review the theoretical and experimental results obtained on simple magnetic model systems. We shall consider the Heisenberg, XY and Ising type of.
